Peaceful Place

I lay down in this field

take a look all around
everything blossom green

the wheat is blowing in the breeze
sky above crystal blue
scent of lilac in the air
the sun is warm on my face
this is a peaceful place

I go about my day

get my child prepared for school
he's learning how to stand in line

but he is not a little fool

he can sense something is wrong

but he's got to play it cool

he knows the world is spinning way too fast
to believe in all their rules.
He can't follow the rules

I don't know what to do
So much pain in the world,
even in this peaceful place
I can feel it too


There are no bombs overhead here,
No people hungry in the street,
No one is in a real big hurry,
You greet the neighbours when you meet
a thousand birds sing high
sun is low in the sky

another peaceful day is passing,
I thank the heavens for my life.
